FAQs

How can I apply to be a tutor?

Tutor applications come out the beginning of each semester! Check out this page or shoot us an email at teachforla@gmail.com for more information.

Where are sessions held?

Sessions are currently on Zoom. If you are signed up to tutor a session, you should receive an email from your room coordinator on an exact link.

What's the absence policy?

We encourage you to come to all our sessions so you and your tutee can form a relationship and have productive sessions. But absences are fine, as long as you report them in advance!

When are sessions?

The dates vary by semester, but we meet most Saturdays from 10:15am-11:30am on Zoom. We don't have sessions on football weekends or university holidays.

First time tutoring?

Our student range between K-12, though we are currently only taking 2nd graders through 12th graders under our Zoom format. Typically, we help our student on whatever they're working on in school. They usually come in with homework and we guide them as they do it.

If your student doesn't come with any homework to do, that's okay! We have lots of worksheets sorted according to grade level and subject. Assess what your student is doing in school right now, or a topic they might need more practice in and choose a corresponding worksheet. If we get a little tired of doing worksheets all session, you can switch over to some fun educational games for a change of pace.

Check out our Resources page for worksheets and computer activities to do during session!
